Job Description
Big Brother Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois (BBBSIL) provides mentoring services to youth in Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties.
BBBSIL seeks a visionary and innovative leader to take the organization to the next level. We desire a person who is passionate about the mission, someone who can persuasively convey the message of the organization, and is personally committed to its continued success. The ideal candidate will foster a culture of excitement and teamwork to accomplish organizational goals. The President and Chief Executive Officer must be a recognized leader among private and public donors, external organizations, political, business, education, and social service leaders.
The President and CEO of BBBSIL is responsible for providing the strategic and visionary leadership to implement the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. The President and CEO is directly accountable to the Board of Directors for operation of the organization, including financial management, program and personnel management, community support, and fundraising.
Primary Responsibilities
 Cultivate and develop a “giving and getting” Board of Directors willing to lead and contribute to the development of prospects and cultivation of major donors and partners
 Develop and modify the strategic plan to meet the needs of the organization through a
 Collaborative process with the Board and staff
 Implement effective fundraising plans to ensure the agency’s financial stability and growth.
 Create and maintain a work environment that emphasizes participatory management and team building
 Ensure programmatic excellence is achieved by using performance metrics. Establish and make improvements to operations
 Ensure comprehensive marketing and partnership strategies to attract and engage donors, and attract, engage and mobilize significant numbers of volunteer mentors reflecting the full diversity of the agency’s community
 Demonstrated ability to lead, establish strategic objectives, develop work-plans, and execute against plan
 Strong fund development, marketing, and public relations experience to successfully engage external stakeholders
 Performance driven management style
 Ability to lead the agency in ways which provide effective services to diverse children and families.
 Ensure establishment of a diverse donor base of individual, corporate, and foundation segments
Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree required. Masters preferred.
 Proven track record of effectively leading innovative change and scaling a high-growth
 performance driven organization
 At least five years of demonstrated success in board development, employee management, fund development, partnership development and financial management
 nclusive leadership style that endorses delegation and collaboration with clear decision
making authority.
